Public Information Meeting

The City will be holding a Public Information Meeting to share information with citizens regarding the reconstruction of streets in the North Cedar Heights Area for Phase II of the overall project. 

Information will be provided on design and construction related items such as repaving, water main, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer. More specific information on the planned reconstruction of Phase II (Timber Drive from Grand Boulevard to Greenwood Avenue, East Ridgewood Drive from Greenwood Avenue to Cherry Lane, and Woodland Drive) will be available at this time.

All interested persons are invited to attend this meeting. Doors will open at 5:30PM with a brief presentation reviewing        

design requirements, scope and expectations of the project, construction phasing and a construction timeline. Afterwards a large plan-view map will be available for viewing. During this time, City officials will be available to answer any questions.

The City of Cedar Falls is conducting a Public Informational Meeting to discuss the planned improvements for the West Viking Road Reconstruction Project. Information will be provided on construction related items such as the proposed construction timelines, project phasing, what the work will involve, and construction storage/equipment areas. All interested persons are invited to attend this meeting. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a brief presentation at 5:45 p.m. followed by a time for questions and answers.

During the 2023 construction season, two (2) City streets are queued for a reconstruction. Reconstruction involves a total removal and replacement of the roadway, with underground utilities replaced if needed. Often it requires closing sections of the road for two to three months. 

The street with significant traffic impacts is W 18th Street. W 18th Street will be completed as two stages of construction. This allows for the shortest duration of closure while still maintaining meaningful accessibility to the directly impacted residences as the contractor can perform all necessary utility installation and pavement placement as uninterrupted as possible. It is anticipated that the W 18th Street work will take approximately 5 months to be completed, and the Madison Street work approximately 2 months. The work on W 18th Street is anticipated to begin in late April.

Along these roadways, new sod will be placed by the contractor. Care for this new grass will become the responsibility of the property owners beginning 30 days after placement. 

This work is primarily funded by the Local Option Sales Tax. The following streets are scheduled for construction during 2023:
