The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is a rental assistance program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. To be eligible for Section 8, a household must first meet income requirements. All Section 8 participants must have an initial gross annual income of less than 50% of area median income. Under the program, the tenant pays a minimum of 30% of their income toward their housing costs. The program pays the difference between the rent amount and household income, up to a set payment standard. For more information and income limits click here.
