Cedar Falls residents who currently have the brown yard waste carts will be able to have them dumped free of charge every Monday in April. Free collections will begin on Monday, April 7th and run through the 28th. Between the dates of April 21-25 yard waste carts will be emptied as often as possible city-wide. Please remember the following guidelines: Place cart at curb by 7 a.m.; weight limit 250 lbs.; no dirt, sod or ashes; no plastic bags; close lid tightly.
Brown biodegradable paper bags will be collected at the curbside during the week of April 21-25. The Transfer Station at 15th and State Street will have bags for sale at a cost of $0.50 each. Residents may also use similar biodegradable paper bags sold by area retailers. Bags will be collected under the following conditions: At curbside, weight limit 40 lbs., no plastic bags.
Residents will also be able to dispose of yard waste at the seasonal drop off facility located in the 300 block of East Main Street in Cedar Falls. This area is north of the river and across the railroad tracks in northern Cedar Falls. Residents are allowed to bring brush, logs, leaves, garden waste and grass clippings to this site free of charge. No garbage or demolition material will be accepted. Contractors may not use this facility.
This facility will be open to residents during the month of April for drop off. Hours of operation will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Times may be altered depending on usage and weather conditions.
