[ARCHIVED] Flood Information

The City of Cedar Falls is continuing to monitor river level projections and is continuing to work on flood preparedness procedures. Currently, the river level is projected to crest Saturday afternoon in Cedar Falls at 99.2 ft.

At this time, sand and sand bagging stations for Northern Cedar Falls residents have been located at 2806 Center Street, the corner of Lincoln St. & Leversee Rd, and at the Ice House Museum.

Drinking water for residents in Northern Cedar Falls is available at the North Fire Station.  There is a hose on the outside of the building that can be accessed anytime, but residents will need to bring their own containers.

Friday morning, Public Safety personnel will be reaching out door-to-door to residents in northern Cedar Falls that will be impacted by flooding.  They will be providing informational brochures and providing any other necessary information. Public Safety personnel will be assigned at the North Fire Station starting on Saturday morning.

At this point in time, volunteers to help with sandbagging efforts in public areas are not being requested.

Due to equipment at the Recycling Center needing to be elevated to protect them from flooding, the center will be closed after Friday and residents are being asked to hold their recyclables until later next week.

Please continue to look for information on the City’s website at www.cedarfalls.com/flood in regards to flood information.   You can follow the link on the webpage to monitor river levels and current projections. You may also click on the inundation mapping tab at the top of the National Weather Service website to view projected effects.

As of 5:00pm today, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be open, please feel free to call that center (319) 243-2700 with any questions you may have.

Press Releases will continue to be distributed as up-to-date information is received.
