With the upcoming Holiday Shopping Season, the City of Cedar Falls would like to remind citizens and visitors to use caution during their travels. As in years past, State Highway 58 corridor is going to have increased traffic volume. Again this year, the City of Cedar Falls and the Iowa Department of Transportation have partnered to remind motorist of the heavy traffic volume at the intersection of Highway 58 and Viking Road. This is being done by installing portable message boards on Highway 58 advising of the heavy traffic ahead and for motorist to be prepared to stop. The message boards will be in place beginning Wednesday, November 25, 2015 and ending January 3, 2016.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible, when shopping the Viking Road businesses. Some of these routes may include Prairie Parkway to Viking Road, Hudson Road to Viking Road, or Cedar Heights to Viking Road.
The Cedar Falls Police Department wishes everyone a safe Holiday Season and asks that everyone drive carefully.
