Last year a Single-Family Conversion Task Force was formed at the request of the City Council to study the impact of single-family homes being converted to rental units. The Task Force, made up of landlords, realtors, city officials and city staff, met for many months to discuss the issues faced by homeowners, renters and landlords and the effect that changes to the City’s current rental code would have on any of these groups and would ultimately impact the quality of life and character of Cedar Falls neighborhoods.
Information regarding the Task Force can be found on the Single-Family Conversion Task Force page.
City staff has proposed changes to the Minimum Rental Housing Code. Public discussion of the changes began January 19th at the Committee of the Whole meeting, and the changes did pass the first of three readings. Discussion is expected to continue through February.
