Posted on: July 3, 2014[ARCHIVED] Parking Enforcement to Begin "Booting"
Beginning July 1, 2014, parking enforcement personnel will use the Titan Grip Vehicle Immobilizer Device on vehicles. The device is also known as a ‘Boot’. Currently, parking enforcement staff tows vehicles that have outstanding parking citations and are on a tow list. A vehicle is placed on a tow list when there is $30.00 in outstanding parking citations. Starting July 1st, those vehicles will be ‘booted’ and a bright sticker will be placed on the window notifying the driver that the vehicle has been immobilized (booted) and should not be moved. The violator must pay all unpaid parking fines and a $50.00 immobilization fee before the boot can be removed from the vehicle. | |
Use of the immobilization devices provides several advantages to parking enforcement staff and violators. The boot can be installed and removed quickly and easily by parking enforcement staff and police officers. Using these devices will save time involved in having vehicles towed. It will also be more convenient for violators, and the $50 booting fee is less than the cost of towing and storage. |
