[ARCHIVED] Slow Down And Be Prepared To Stop On Highway 58

With the rush of the holiday season the Cedar Falls Police Department would like to caution motorists to drive with care and be prepared to stop for other motorists stopped on the roadway of Highway 58 particularly between Greenhill and Viking Roads.

Southbound traffic turning at the Viking Road intersection is frequently backed up for hundreds of feet beyond the turn lane taking many motorists by surprise when they find traffic stopped in their lane. This concern particularly occurs on Friday, Saturday and Sundays when traffic is heavier.

There have been more than 100 accidents in 2013 on this stretch of road. Traffic has increased during this holiday season, increasing the risk for accidents. Motorists should consider taking alternative routes such as Hudson Road or Cedar Heights Drive if possible.
