The Cedar Falls Fire Department and the Beyond Pink TEAM are excited to announce the return of the Pink Fire Trucks “Pink Heals Tour” to the Cedar Valley.
The Pink Fire Trucks first arrived in the Cedar Valley in September, 2011. The response was overwhelming. Many people showed up to sign the truck on behalf of their own fight with cancer or to honor a friend or loved one.
“Every day women are challenged with health issues, with cancer being a primary one. These trucks bring not only awareness to cancer, but offer women and those who support them, the opportunity to make a statement of their fight, care and support by signing the trucks,” says Marty Mullnix, Events Chair of the Beyond Pink TEAM.
The Pink Fire Trucks "Pink Heals Tour" is arriving in the Cedar Valley on Monday July 8th. There will be three trucks arriving as part of the tour. They will be at CVSi Motorsports, 4227 University Ave., Cedar Falls from
7 am-7pm. One truck will be at the Covenant Cancer Treatment Center, 200 E. Ridgeway Ave., and also at the Breast Care Center at United Medical Park, 1753 W. Ridgeway Ave., Waterloo from 9-11 am and will return to the CVSi Motorsports location for the remainder of the day.
The “Pink Heals Tour” is designed to celebrate life and survivorship. Women who are living with any type of cancer diagnosis are encouraged to come and sign their name on a fire truck. The Beyond Pink TEAM and
American Cancer Society will be on hand with cancer programming information. Panera Bread is offering coffee and bagels for breakfast and Scratch Cupcakes, The Other Place on University Avenue, Hy-Vee, Cedar Falls Firefighters and the CVSi Staff are offering treats for donations. Pizza and cupcakes will be available over the lunch hour until gone and cookies, with popcorn and pink cotton candy available throughout the afternoon. Donations from the event will go to support the Pink Heals Tour and the Beyond Pink TEAM.
Members of the Cedar Falls Fire Department, Waterloo Fire Department, Cedar Falls Police, Waterloo Police, Sheriffs Department, Sartori Paramedics, and other area fire departments will be helping host the pink fire trucks in the Cedar Valley.
If people can’t make the event, the pink fire trucks will be parked Monday overnight at the Hilton Garden Inn 7213 Nordic, Cedar Falls.
