[ARCHIVED] Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Day

On Saturday, May 11, local members of the National Association of Letter Carriers will join with letter carriers across the country in collecting non-perishable food as part of the nation’s largest one-day food drive to support Feeding America. The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is important for local communities because it helps stock food banks and pantries for summer, a time when there’s an increased need for food assistance, especially for children who are out of school.

Residents are encouraged to leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, rice or cereal, next to their mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery on Saturday, May 11. Food items collected locally will be distributed to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, St. Vincent de Paul and the Salvation Army to be used in Black Hawk County.
