The Cedar Falls City Council voted in 2011 to increase monthly sewer charges by 5% each year over the next five years. The first year of the increased rates became effective with your August, 2011 billing. Now the 2nd year of the increase will become effective on your August 2012 billing. These increases are necessary to fund various projects in our sewer system, including improvements to the treatment facility. The large projects at the treatment facility are required by EPA and DNR standards relating to disinfection and discharge. Unfortunately, these improvements are very expensive but are required by federal mandates.
If you have questions regarding your sewer bill, please call or email the Finance Manager at 273-8600 or call the Public Works Department at 273-8629.
