Here are a few quick and easy steps you can take to improve the water quality in your community:
• Move your downspout away from your driveway or other impervious surface to a grassed area
• Use phosphorus free fertilizers unless fertilizing a brand new lawn• Use fertilizer only to package instructions and sweep up any excess from walks and driveways
• Check cars for leaks and have them repaired promptly• Use a biodegradable soap when washing your car and wash on a vegetated area
• Have your septic system inspected every 3-5 years
