The Black Hawk County Solid Waste Management Commission (BHCSWMC) is pleased to subsidize the sale of two eco-friendly products at during the spring Electronics Recycling and Household Toxin Disposal event in Waterloo. The one-day truckload sale of compost bins and rain barrels will take place on Saturday, April 14th from 9 AM until 3 PM at the Waterloo Waste Water Treatment Plant at 3505 Easton Ave., Waterloo.
Earth Machine backyard compost bins will be sold for the subsidized price of $42 to encourage residents to take up composting as this year’s green initiative. The sale is open to all Iowa residents. In addition to compost bins, the truckload sale will also have 55 gallon rain barrels to encourage homeowners to capture rainwater for use in their yards. The Systern rain barrels are tan in color and come with a lid with mesh screen, faucet overflow hose and necessary hardware. Some assembly is required. Rain barrels will be sold for the subsidized price of $52.
The sales will be held rain or shine, first come first served, while quantities last. No pre-orders will be taken, so come early! Cash, check, Visa or MasterCard accepted.
