First there was Black Friday, then Cyber Monday. On November 27th comes Small Business Saturday, a day to support the local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country. Small Business Saturday is a national movement to drive shoppers to local merchants across the U.S.
Cedar Falls Community Main Street joins the national movement spearheaded by American Express OPEN, the company’s division dedicated to U.S. small businesses, who is partnering with more than a dozen small business advocate groups. Our Main Street neighborhood recognizes the importance of small businesses in Cedar Falls, the revenue they generate and the character they instill in local neighborhoods.
We are particularly excited to be showcased in this national event that supports small local businesses and will be holding special events on Saturday, November 27th beginning at 11am to mark the occasion.
The district will kick-off Small Business SaturdaySM beginning with a short ceremony at 11:00am at 4th and Main outside Santa’s Main Street. The local performing group, The Doo-waps, will be providing music, the Mayor will read a proclamation declaring Saturday, November 27, 2010 as Small Business Saturday, and Santa along with his helpers will have gifts ready.
