As the holidays approach, many people begin to sort through their tangled mess of holiday lights and get ready to decorate. This year, Cedar Falls Utilities is encouraging citizens to purchase LED holiday lights. The LED lights won’t cut down on the time it takes to decorate, but they will help save money on the electric bill.
LED lights use less energy and last much longer than the older-style incandescent lights. They will last for up to 50 seasons of use! LED lights are available in a variety of colors and sizes to match every decorating style.
Residents can upgrade to the new lights and keep their old incandescent strings out of the landfill. CFU will host a holiday light recycling week November 29 through December 3. The drop-off bins will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. near the front door at CFU. CFU will properly recycle and dispose of the decorative light strings in an environmentally friendly way.
