[ARCHIVED] Governor Requests Presidential Disaster Declaration For Public Entitities

As a result of the severe storms of July 10, Governor Culver has requested a Presidential Disaster Declaration for Black Hawk County for the Public Assistance program. This program provides funds to public entities (City, UNI, CFU) and certain non-profit agencies to rebuild public infrastructure.

There were not enough personal damages to allow the Governor to request Individual Assistance, which is the program that directly aids citizens affected by the storms. There are several other sources available for individuals still needing assistance in dealing with the after-effects of recent storms. Some of these programs are age or income based. For more details, please contact the Long Term Recovery office at 319-272-2465.
