Volunteers are needed to make this event a success. Volunteers (ages 16+) can help out for the entire length of the event from 7:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or for a morning shift from 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Both light-duty and heavy-lifting tasks are available. During an average event, volunteers typically help unload more than 60,000 pounds of electronics – in addition to home chemicals, propane tanks, car batteries, and much more.
Citizens interested in volunteering are asked to register here or call (319) 234-8115 by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023, so adequate volunteer supplies and food can be ordered. The Commission is coordinating and registering all the volunteers for this event. No walk-in volunteers are allowed. Snacks, lunch, and beverages will be provided for volunteers. The event will take place – rain or shine!
