Oak Park Blvd Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project Start of Construction

Starting Tuesday, August 15, 2023, the City's contractor, PCI, will start the Oak Park Blvd Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project. In order for the contractor to begin, a full-width street closure located between 2821 and 2913 Minnetonka Drive will be required for the sanitary sewer work. The remaining sections of the Minnetonka Drive loop will remain open for access. The duration of construction will be approximately three (3) months' time. Due to weather conditions towards the end of the project this fall, plantings and permanent seeding may be delayed till the spring seeding window in May of 2024.

The project will be phased around the installation of the pump station that must be placed along Minnetonka Drive. A pressurized line from the pump station will be bored under the ravine and into a sanitary sewer manhole located between 941 and 929 Oak Park Boulevard. The temporary aboveground crossing at the ravine to Oak Park Boulevard will be maintained until the new pump station is operational. At that time, crews will work to realign the remaining sanitary to the new pump station. After connections are made, crews will remove the temporary crossing and the remaining parts of the existing crossing. Finally, crews will work to stabilize the site.

During construction, rural type mailboxes in conflict with construction will be removed and temporarily relocated. The contractor will coordinate the location of the relocated mailboxes with the U.S. Postal Service. Once the road is restored, the mailboxes will be returned to their original location. Please do not park adjacent to the relocated mailboxes. The residents will be responsible for removing any decorative attachments to the mailboxes and relocating any landscape plantings within the right-of-way. The contractor will be responsible for removing and temporarily relocating the mailbox and post only. During the closure, residents can place their garbage cans and yard waste collection carts on either side of the road closure This should be done on the normal collection day for that particular street.

If you have any questions or concerns during the course of construction, please contact:
