[ARCHIVED] Road Closure Notice: Main Street from 21st to 22nd

Beginning Monday, June 19, 2023, the contractor will begin the reconstruction of Main Street from the current construction limits at 21st Street to the north side of the intersection of 22nd Street. In order for the contractor to begin pavement removal, a full road closure will be required. The road closure will be in effect for approximately twelve (12) weeks, depending on the weather. Below you will find a map with the closure area highlighted. Residential access will be maintained for the homes on the west side of Main Street

Main Street Closure Map

The planned work for this street includes the removal of the existing pavement, and driveway approaches, installation of new sanitary sewer, water main and storm sewer, new concrete pavement and driveway approaches, and grass from the back of the new curb to the front edge of the sidewalk. Any landscaping, including plants and decorations located between the curb and the existing sidewalk are subject for removal by the contractor. If you intend to keep any of these materials, relocations outside of the right-of-way must take place ahead of the contractor to ensure they stay with the property.

For safety's sake, please stay away from the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed street. It would be advisable to stay behind the sidewalk on the property side during the reconstruction work.

During the closure, alternate City garbage pickup points will be required for residents who normally place automated collection carts within the closure area of Main Street. Residents can place their collection carts on the nearest adjacent side streets or along their rear yard alley (if applicable) as shown with the yellow boxes on the attached map. This should be done on the normal collection day for that particular street.

Yard waste collection carts can be placed curbside at the same location as the garbage collection carts for pickup. Yard waste may also be taken to the transfer station in any type of container when the transfer station is open.

For your convenience, we have included labels to be placed on the back of the collection carts (for those with City collection carts) for your use. Residents should have their carts out by 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection and brought in by 8:00 p.m. on the day of collection.

If your mailbox is affixed to your home, mail delivery will not be impacted.
