Starting June 12, 2023, the Iowa DOT's contractor, Owen Contracting, will be continuing lane reconstruction by starting the second stage of the IA 27 and US 218 ramp reconstruction project. During this second stage, the IA 27/58 southbound exit ramp (exit towards the University of Northern Iowa and Hudson) will continue to be closed. A second ramp closure of the northbound IA 27/58 to westbound IA 57 loop ramp (exit towards downtown Cedar Falls) will be closed. All remaining ramps will be open to traffic. US 218 westbound and IA 57 westbound will be in a single-lane reduced capacity.
The DOT has placed a restricted width of 11’-0 on the US 218 exit ramp (exit towards Janesville and Waverly) during construction. For safety's sake, please stay away from the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed sections of the highway. Below you will find a map with the closure areas highlighted and a detour map for the closed ramps.
