The Cedar Falls Police Department held a small ceremony on November 21, 2022, to recognize the promotions of Lieutenant Brooke Heuer to Captain and Officer Carson Barron to Lieutenant. These positions became available following the announcement of Captain Mark Howard to Chief of Police.
During the ceremony at the Public Safety Building, the department also swore in new reserve officers Kristine DuBois and Tanner Oppman as they took the Oath of Office with Mayor Rob Green.
Brooke Heuer
Captain Brooke Heuer is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa in Criminology and has been with the Cedar Falls Police Department since 2000. She was promoted to lieutenant in 2005. Captain Heuer is the first female police captain for the Cedar Falls Police Department. She has extensive law enforcement experience including Investigative supervisor, Training Unit Supervisor, Certified Law Enforcement Fitness Specialist, Field Training program supervisor, and the Cedar Falls Reserve Unit Supervisor. Captain Heuer is also a certified CPR instructor.
Carson Barron
Lieutenant Barron has been a Cedar Falls Police Officer since 2016. He has a bachelor’s degree from Wartburg College and was the Cedar Falls Police Officer of the Year in 2018. Lieutenant Barron is a Field Training Officer, a Firearms Instructor, and a member of the Cedar Falls Police SWAT Team.
