View the latest updates on area road construction projects in Cedar Falls for the week of August 8, 2022.

Center Street Corridor Streetscape Project: For the week of August 8, the City's contractor, Owen Contracting, Inc., will continue with paving operations with the placement of curb and sidewalks. Other crews will start installing light pole foundations on the west side of Center Street to work ahead. Grading operations will continue on the east side as crews will work to start building the bioretention cells between the edge of the road and the newly placed sidewalk. Center Street is currently in a one-way pattern for northbound traffic between Lone Tree Road and Clair Street.

Cedar Heights Drive Reconstruction (Located at Cedar Heights and Huntington. Cedar Heights is closed North of Huntington Roundabout): For the week of August 8, the City's contractor, PCI, will be working in the new construction limits, north of the Huntington roundabout, removing pavement and starting to place the new underground storm sewer and water service utilities. Crews will also be working on grading adjacent to the new roadway to accommodate the wider pavement. Those who live in the closure limits will have alternative access either to the north limits or south via temporary rock access until new driveways can be established. Prairie Street access will be returned to Cedar Heights and the temporary access will be closed to reduce cut-thru traffic. Huntington will be connected to the new roundabout by temporary pavement and will provide access south onto Cedar Heights Drive.

West Viking Industrial Park, Phase V (Located on Venture Way and Technology Parkway): For the week of August 8, the City's contractor, PCI, will continue with underground utility work on watermain, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer placement. Underground utility crews are starting to reach the northern section of the project near the future Venture Way extension. Within the month, paving operations are to start for the southern half. Mass grading operations will continue as weather allows. As dryer conditions continue in summer, the contractor will be working to place dust control elements throughout the project.

Union Road Recreational Trail (located at Beaver Road intersection onto Union Road): The contractor is working on mowing the ditches and maintaining Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) controls until they are able to seed.

The detour for Balboa Avenue and Bluebell Road has been directed to Coneflower Parkway. Pavement removal has begun on the southern half of the intersection, and the contractor will continue with the water main installation once the removals are completed.
