[ARCHIVED] Road Closure Notice: Olive Street

Beginning Thursday, June 9, 2022, the contractor will begin the reconstruction of Olive Street from the intersection at West 4th Street through the intersection of West 6th Street. In order for the contractor to begin pavement removal, a full road closure will be required. The road closure will be in effect for approximately eight weeks, depending on the weather. Below, you will find a map with the closure area highlighted.

The planned work for this street includes removal and replacement of the existing pavement and driveway approaches, installation of a new water main and storm sewer, and sod from the back of the new curb to the front edge of the sidewalk. Any landscaping, including plants and decorations located between the curb and the existing sidewalk, is subject to removal by the contractor. If residents intend to keep any of these materials, relocations outside of the right-of-way must take place ahead of the contractor to ensure they stay with the property.

For safety's sake, please stay away from the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed street. It would be advisable to stay behind the sidewalk on the property side during the reconstruction work.

During the closure, alternate garbage pickup points will be required for residents who normally place automated collection carts within the closure area of Olive Street. Residents can place their collection carts on either end of the street closure shown with the yellow boxes on the map. This should be done on the normal collection day for that particular street. Yard waste collection carts can be placed curbside at the same location as the garbage collection carts for Monday pick up. Yard waste may also be taken to the Transfer Station (1524 State Street) in any type of container during operating hours.
