View the latest Cedar Falls street construction updates for the week of October 4, 2021:

Downtown Streetscape and Reconstruction Project- On East 4th Street, the contractor will continue with the driveway and storm sewer intake pours. Beginning October 4, the contractor will begin working on the adjacent sidewalks by placing the conduit and concrete amenity pads/edge restraint. This work will be followed by the brick-laying contractor.

West 1st Street/HWY 57 Expansion- For the week of October 4, the roadway will be fully opened and crews will be working on punch list items along the new roadway. As crews work to finalize the project, sporadic lane closures should be expected for work behind the back of the curb.

2021 Street Construction Project

Brandilynn Boulevard Stage 3 is completed with the concrete street pours and will now be followed by the storm sewer intake pours and driveway pours. It should be ready for backfilling and landscaping this week.

McClain Drive Stage 2 has completed the intersection pours and will follow with driveway and sidewalk replacement this week.

Kaspend Place spot repairs will begin this week and will be followed by the driveway approach replacements the following week. These will be followed by an asphalt overlay on the street in an expected two weeks.

Union Road Recreational Trail          

During the week of October 4, crews will continue paving operation along the trail moving north along the project. The contractor (Lodge) will continue working on intersections and embankment grading ahead of paving operations. As paving operations commence, traffic will be reduced to alternating traffic as crews work from the shoulder of the roadway.

Cedar Heights Drive Reconstruction (Cedar Heights Drive & Greenhill Road)

For the week of October 4, crews will continue pavement removal south of Greenhill Road on Cedar Heights Drive and start preparation for paving on the north half of the Greenhill Road and Cedar Heights Drive intersection. As crews shift to the south side of the intersection and prepare the roadway between Greenhill Road and Cedar Hill Road, traffic should continue to follow the posted detour. East and Westbound traffic on Greenhill Road will be maintained throughout construction.

2021 Permeable Alley Project (9th/10th Street and Main/State Alley and 12th/13th Street and Washington/Main Alley)

For the week of October 4, crews will continue to complete paving operations at the 9th and 10th Street alley and will follow with backfilling and grading operations. The 12th and 13th Street alley work will begin this week with crews starting on grading and placement of sub-drain along the centerline of the proposed alley. As crews work on both alleys, alternative garbage pickups will be established on the adjacent side streets.
