View the latest Cedar Falls street construction updates for the week of August 16, 2021:

Downtown Streetscape and Reconstruction Project- The brick laying contractor has finished placing bricks on the south side of W 4th Street and will continue placing the bricks along the east side of the 400 block and west side of the 500 block of the parkade. On East 4th Street, installation of the watermain and storm sewer will continue over the week. The contractor will resume placing the concrete amenity pads along the parkade.

West 1st Street/HWY 57 Expansion- For the week of August 16, crews will be continuing with paving operations on the northern half of the Hudson Road intersection. Depending on weather, crews will continue to grade in preparation for paving the adjacent side streets. Head-to-Head traffic pattern on W. 1st Street/HWY 57 will remain on the southern lanes. The current construction will continue to result in restricted turning movements at the Hudson Road intersection. Trailered vehicles should choose alternative routes to avoid turning at the intersection.

2021 Street Construction Project

Brandilynn Boulevard Stage 2 has the driveways getting poured back.                                                                                                                                             

McClain Drive Stage 2 work has completed the watermain work and will work toward finishing the storm sewer this week.

The street paving is completed for Washington Street. The sidewalk contractor will begin working on the sidewalk replacements along both blocks.

The three sanitary sewer patches are now repaired on Cadillac Drive ahead of the upcoming asphalt overlay. The concrete paving contractor will pour back the patches this week.   

Intersection sidewalk pours have been completed on Pheasant Drive ahead of the upcoming asphalt overlay.                                                                                                                                           

Work on Tremont Street has begun. This work includes the removal and replacement of the curb and gutter, followed by an asphalt mill and overlay.                                                                                                         

Union Road Recreation Trail 

Paving has been placed and the contractors is coordinating with subcontractors for the concrete paving of the trail along with removal and replacement of the driveways and mobile home entrances.

Cedar Heights Drive Reconstruction (Cedar Heights Drive & Greenhill Road)

For the week of August 16, crews will finalize paving on Chadwick Extention to Greenhill Road and will continue to work on temporary paving on Greenhill Road and Chadwick Drive Extension. A traffic pattern switch will occur on Thursday, August 19 for Stage 2 by closing the northern half of the Greenhill Road and Cedar Heights Drive intersection. East and Westbound traffic on Greenhill Road will be maintained throughout construction. Cedar Heights Drive traffic will be detoured around the intersection closure by posted detour signage on the following roadways: Viking Road, Prairie Parkway, Greenhill Road, and University Avenue. Chadwick Drive will be open for business and residential access to Greenhill Road will be maintained throughout the remainder of the project.
