[ARCHIVED] Road Closure Notice: McClain Drive (Lilac Lane North - Maplewood Drive Intersection)

Beginning July 19, 2021, the contractor will begin Stage 2 reconstruction of McClain Drive from Lilac Lane north through the Maplewood Drive Intersection. In order for the contractor to begin pavement removal, a full road closure will be required. The road closure will be in effect for up to eight weeks, depending on the weather.

The planned work for this street includes removal of the existing pavement, and driveway approaches, installation of new water main and storm sewer, new concrete pavement and driveway approaches, and sod from the back of the new curb to the front edge of the sidewalk. For safety's sake, please stay away from the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed street. It would be advisable to stay behind the sidewalk on the property side during the reconstruction work.

During the closure, alternate garbage pickup points will be required for residents who normally place automated collection carts within the closure area of McClain Drive. Residents can place their collection carts on either end of the street closure shown with the yellow boxes on the map below. This should be done on the normal collection day for that particular street. Yard waste collection carts can be placed curbside at the same location as the garbage collection carts for Monday pick up. Yard waste may also be taken to the Transfer Station in any type of container when the Transfer Station is open (visit https://www.cedarfalls.com/107/Transfer-Station for information on the Cedar Falls Transfer Station). For your convenience, we have included labels to be placed on the back of the collection carts for your use. Residents should have their carts out by 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection and brought in by 8:00 p.m. on the day of collection. During the road closure, any on-street mailboxes will be temporarily removed and replaced once the new pavement is installed. Temporary mailboxes will be provided by the contractor on the edge of the construction area in order to maintain postal service. If your mailbox is affixed to your home, mail delivery will not be impacted.
