Construction Updates: October 9, 2020
Downtown Streetscape (project located on 2nd Street):
West 2nd Street sidewalks from Main to Washington and the Southern East 2nd Street sidewalks are currently closed. Crews will continue working on the concrete edge restraint along West 2nd Street. The brick paver contractor is expecting to begin work on the West 2nd Street Sidewalks on Monday, October 19th. They will continue working on West 2nd Street until all of the brick pavers are installed, allowing them to jump over to East 2nd Street and finish the pavers along that sidewalk. The East 2nd Street sidewalk has been closed for removals. The contractor will be replacing a small amount of concrete in the alley approach and curb, while also installing a concrete edge restraint between the pavers and the building.

West 1st Street/Hwy 57 - Phase 2 (project located West 1st Street/HWY 57-Franklin Street to Hudson Road):
For the week of October 19th, traffic will continue to be head-to-head on the southern lanes between Ellen Street and Walnut Street. Temporary paving near Ellen will continue into next week. Driveway and sidewalk placement will continue adjacent to the newly paved northern lanes with landscaping and sod placement following. In two weeks time, a planned traffic switch will shift traffic to the far outside lanes as crews complete the remaining center turn lane paving.

West 12th Street Reconstruction (project located West 12th - Tremont to College Streets, Walnut - 11th to 12th Streets):
The contractor has begun working on the ADA ramps. Contractor to finish backfilling and working on clean up items in order to move in and lay sod. Currently, a subcontractor is working on the stairs and integral walls on Walnut Street.
Expected project completion date: Fall 2020

Cedar Falls Permeable Alley Project (project located 4th/5th Street on Tremont and Iowa, 22nd and Seerley on Tremont and Franklin):
Currently, there is limited access to local users only for both alleys. A punch list is being compiled to be sent to the Contractor in order to button up any correction on the alleys. Partial closures may cointinue for punch list items. After the punch list is completed, this project will be completed and able to start the final out process.

Additional 2020 Annual Street Construction Updates (all projects expected to be completed by Fall 2020):
26th Street (Iowa Street to Tremont Street): 26th Street has had all roadwork concrete and curb installed. The contractor will begin the sidewalk work starting Monday, October 19th, and asphalt crews will come in afterward to place the asphalt pavement mid week.

Additional Construction Note:
The Clay Street Drainage Project is taking place in the Alley and Park between Clay/Washington and 16th/17th Street. The mulch, plants, and hydro-seeding are being placed in the bio-cell. The alleyway east and west have the drive lanes and approaches poured. The bricks are being laid starting October 16th and should be finished by the weekend. The contractor has cored out the north sidewalk and will move in next week for concrete. The other bio-cell and sidewalk along West 15th Street is staked out but remains to be completed.
