[ARCHIVED] Conserve Water, Volunteers Requested, 06/11/2008, 5:38 p.m.

People who are willing to report for volunteer duty this evening and into the night are asked to call into City Hall at 268-5181 between the hours of 5-8 p.m. and provide their name and phone number. Do not report for volunteer duty at this time. Volunteers will be contacted if necessary throughout the night.

People throughout the City must take precautions to conserve water. Specifically, all residents are asked to limit flushing of the toilet. Four out of eleven lift stations are not working. Everyone’s cooperation is required to prevent additional pressure upon the stressed collection system.

The previously designated mandatory evacuation area continues to be in effect, as conditions are still very hazardous. City officials continue to evaluate the situation.

People needing tetanus shots are asked to call the Department of Public Health at 291-2413 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
