Construction Updates: September 25, 2020
Downtown Streetscape (project located on 2nd Street):
West 2nd Street remains completely closed with the mainline pour completed. Additional paving on the side parking areas is expected to be completed next week. Benton's will then mobilize in to prepare the sidewalks for pavers. The brick paver contractor is expected to begin work on the West 2nd Street Sidewalks afterward. The brick paver contractor has installed pavers at the SW corner of 3rd and Main.

West 1st Street/Hwy 57 - Phase 2 (project located West 1st Street/HWY 57-Franklin Street to Hudson Road):
Head-to-head traffic will continue on the south lanes between Ellen and Walnut Streets. The contractor will be continuing with construction by preparing for paving operations in the north lanes during the week of September 28th. During this time, the contractor will also start median related work on Hudson Road near the 1st Street intersection. Traffic on Hudson Road along with commercial entrances will be maintained throughout construction.

West 12th Street Reconstruction (project located West 12th - Tremont to College Streets, Walnut - 11th to 12th Streets):
Walnut Street is closed from West 11th to West 12th Street. The contractor has 90 percent of the wall complete and needs to tear out a section of curb for pouring the ADA ramp and then complete the retaining wall. The contractor is grading the rock base and preparing to pour on Saturday. Working on coordinating with Mediacom regarding a pole that needs to be removed as those communications lines must be removed first.

Cedar Falls Permeable Alley Project (project located 4th/5th Street on Tremont and Iowa, 22nd and Seerley on Tremont and Franklin):
Miscellaneous concrete work, final backfilling, and restoration to be completed.

Additional 2020 Annual Street Construction Updates (all projects expected to be completed by Fall 2020):
26th Street - Iowa Street to Tremont Street: Water main tested at the intersection of 26th and Tremont. Ongoing storm sewer work will continue into next week in this area.
Lilac Lane - Rownd St. to McClain Dr.: Street is closed from Rownd to 600’ west. Mainline paving has been completed. Sidewalks and driveway approaches were poured this week. Next will be backfilling and restoration.
Madison Street- Valley Park to Waterloo Road: Street is currently closed from Waterloo Road to 450' West. Mainline paving has been completed. Sidewalks and driveway approaches were poured this week. Next will be backfilling and restoration. The contractor is paving half the intersection at White Way Drive and should be complete early next week.
11th Street - Division Street to College Street: Asphalt paving has been completed. Topsoil and sod/seed scheduled for placement.
Union Road - 1st St./HWY 57 to N.C.L: Complete.
Note, construction on the following streets listed as part of the 2020 Annual Street Program are complete: Clearview Drive (Primerose to Orchard), Chateau Court (4th Street to Cul-de-sac), Holmes Drive (4th Street to Holmes Junior High), Carlton Drive (Lilac Lane to Maplewood Drive), Seerley Blvd. (Valley Park to Melrose Drive), Ashland Ave. (Acorn Lane to Pin Oak Drive).
