Construction Updates: August 21, 2020
Downtown Streetscape (project located on 2nd/3rd Street):
Sidewalk along W 3rd is completed beside the corner in front of Caboose Stop Hobbies. Contractors will be working on the NE corner of 3rd and Main, then completing the area around the banner pole bases on the west side of the 200 block. Access to the alleys is available on 3rd Street. 3rd Street is expected to be fully open by the 25th of August (weather pending). West 2nd St remains completely closed to traffic with storm sewer now completed. Grading of the east half has started, with temporary rock planned to be installed to reopen the sidewalks. Coordination around access for Ginger Thai will be considered in an effort to completely limit disturbance to business activity.

West 1st Street/Hwy 57 - Phase 2 (project located West 1st Street/HWY 57-Franklin Street to Hudson Road):
Traffic has been shifted head-to-head on the south lanes between Ellen to Walnut Streets. Milling and pavement removal operations are scheduled to begin Friday, August 21st. Starting the week of August 24th, the contractor will be working on sanitary sewer service connections, storm sewer, and other related underground utility work. Temporary driveway access will be provided by the contractor to residential and commercial properties.

West 12th Street Reconstruction (project located West 12th - Tremont to College Streets, Walnut - 11th to 12th Streets):
W. 12th is closed from Tremont St. to College St. PCI has watermain installed on Walnut and is working on water services and grading. Two water services had to be lowered to get sufficient coverage under the retaining wall.
Expected project completion date: Fall 2020

Cedar Falls Permeable Alley Project (project located 4th/5th Street on Tremont and Iowa, 22nd and Seerley on Tremont and Franklin):
4th/5th Street Alley has been graded and seeded, this alley is now open. 22nd/Seerley Alley has both collars poured and the South Approach, the contractor has bricked the alley and Benton’s is working on grading and prepping for driveway work. After driveways are complete, the North approach will be poured. Seeding will follow and the 22nd Street patch will be done.

Additional 2020 Annual Street Construction Updates (all projects expected to be completed by Fall 2020):
26th Street - Iowa Street to Tremont Street: Open for traffic, areas of single lanes closures and flaggers directing traffic may occur for ongoing work prior to paving operations.
Lilac Lane - Rownd St. to McClain Dr.: Street is currently closed from McClain - halfway to Rownd. Traffic is open back up to Stage 1 construction. Stage 2 construction with sanitary sewer installation will be ongoing this week.
Madison Street- Valley Park to Waterloo Road: Street is currently closed from Valley Park to Whiteway. Traffic is open back up to Stage 1 construction. Stage 2 construction continues with service connection work occurring.
11th Street - Division Street to College Street: Street is currently closed from Division to Catherine. Asphalt paving has been completed. Topsoil and sod/seed scheduled for placement.
Union Road - 1st St./HWY 57 to N.C.L: Open back up for traffic with possible single lane closure with flaggers for culvert work.
Note, construction on the following streets listed as part of the 2020 Annual Street Program are complete: Clearview Drive (Primerose to Orchard), Chateau Court (4th Street to Cul-de-sac), Holmes Drive (4th Street to Holmes Junior High), Carlton Drive (Lilac Lane to Maplewood Drive), Seerley Blvd. (Valley Park to Melrose Drive), Ashland Ave. (Acorn Lane to Pin Oak Drive).
