As the 2020 Downtown Streetscape project continues amid the COVID-19 emergency, the Cedar Falls Engineering team is taking the opportunity to better accommodate local Main Street businesses. With decreased foot traffic, the Streetscape Parkade construction will be focused on the walk directly in front of businesses to allow for less future disruption.
This will continue on April 13 as crews start work on the 8’ walk directly in front of the businesses along the west side of Main Street, from 1st to 3rd Street. Construction will not affect business hours and businesses will be accessible with short closures as needed for brick placement.

On April 13, the reconstruction of West 3rd Street will also begin by closing the entire block from Washington Street to Main Street. This will require a full road closure which will be in effect ten to twelve weeks (depending on weather and COVID-19 guidelines). Pedestrian access to all buildings on the block will be maintained during this time.
