[ARCHIVED] Water Reclamation Facility Reminds Public to Not Flush ‘Flushable’ Wipes

As the community works through the COVID-19 emergency, the Cedar Falls Water Reclamation Facility would like to send out a quick reminder that only human waste and toilet paper should be flushed down your toilets.

Though some may be labeled as “flushable,” adult and baby wipes, along with rags and/or paper towels of any kind, should not be flushed down the toilet. These alternatives do not break down in the sanitary sewer like toilet paper and may lead to costly breakdowns in your home’s plumbing or the City’s sanitary sewer system. These breakdowns could lead to unnecessary exposure of yourself, city workers, plumbers and even your neighbors to sanitary sewer wastes.

If you do need to use anything other than toilet paper, be sure to dispose of them into the trash.

Please contact the Water Reclamation Facility at 273-8668 with any questions or concerns.
