[ARCHIVED] Cedar Falls Public Safety Now Offering Online Reporting

DJI_0021

To help provide additional protection against exposure opportunities of COVID-19, Cedar Falls Public Safety is now offering the ability for individuals to report crimes online. The form is available at www.cedarfalls.com/1533/Report-a-Crime. It can also be found by visiting www.cedarfalls.com and clicking ‘Police Operations’ under ‘Departments’ and selecting ‘Report a Crime’.

The form allows for the reporting of crimes such as credit card fraud, extra patrol request, harassment, theft, lot property, and minor vehicle accidents on private property. After an incident is submitted, an officer will contact the individual by email or phone for follow-up information or questions.

“As we work through the COVID-19 emergency, it is important to find new ways to protect both our community and our officers,” said Lieutenant Kari Rea of the Cedar Falls Public Safety Department.  “By utilizing the online form, we can help decrease the likelihood of potential exposure of the coronavirus and still serve our residents.”

Cedar Falls Public Safety has also instated additional safety precautions against COVID-19 including postponing all public tours and limiting public access to the building. Currently no property pick-up or fingerprinting is allowed on the site. Public safety personnel have been provided with protective masks and gloves. Response vehicles and uniforms are thoroughly disinfected as needed as a precaution against the transmission of COVID-19. The Consolidated Dispatch Center (911) is also using a protocol to identity potential symptoms of COVID-19.

The online submission form is not for emergencies or crimes in progress. In an emergency situation, always dial 911. Cedar Falls Public Safety would also like to remind the public that filing a false police report, including filing online, is a crime. For more information or questions, please contact Cedar Falls Public Safety at (319) 273-8612.
