Due to the latest rain showers in the Cedar Falls area, and the rain to the north of Cedar Falls, the Cedar River in Cedar Falls is currently above flood stage and is rising. The national weather service has predicted the Cedar River will crest at 94 feet on Sunday at around 7:00 AM. This crest prediction is subject to change depending upon various factors. At 94 feet, there will be some localized flooding that will effect streets in Cedar Falls. The following streets will be effected at this river level:
Cottage Row
Bluff Street at the Intersection with East 7th Street
Grant Street near Greeley Street
Lake Street between Cameo and Central Avenue
Big Woods Road to the south of Big Woods Lake
Lone Tree Road near the Eagles Club
Various portions of Lincoln Street
Access to Washington Park, Island Park and Tourist Park will be effected.
The Cedar Falls Police Department would like to remind residents not to drive on roads with water over them, and to stay away from any flood water. Residents should watch local forecasts which will include the latest crest prediction.
