One of the best things about serving our community is the opportunity to connect with the people that make it a great place to call home. When 12-year-old Caleb reached out to the Cedar Falls Public Safety team to express his interest in learning more about firefighting, he also mentioned that his birthday was right around the corner. In response, Cedar Falls Captain Tim Smith made sure it would be a day he would never forget!
On the morning of his big day, Captain Smith arranged for Caleb to be picked up in a fire engine and driven to the Public Safety Building. Once there, Cedar Falls Firefighters Purdy, Dougan, and Shafer took him on the tour of the building. They also had set up his favorite fire apparatus, the aerial truck, for him to see. Caleb got the chance to try on the fire gear and learned more about how it keeps the team safe.
It was great helping Caleb celebrate his birthday and we hope he has a wonderful year!
