Cedar Falls is a home to a wonderful community and one of the reasons is the care and kindness of its people. One person can make a huge difference and for Cedar Falls Parking Attendent, Vicky Satterlee, her decision to act when someone was in need made all the difference in the world.

Vicky was driving past the Cedar Falls Recreation and Fitness Center on September 18
when she witnessed a one-vehicle accident. Instead of passing by, she immediately stopped and called the Cedar Falls Public Safety Department. Then she took it upon herself to go and check on the driver. It turned out the driver had recently donated blood, causing her to become woozy and unstable. When the driver exited the car, Vicky quickly realized that the driver had accidentally put the car in reverse instead of park. The car, carrying a small child in a car seat, began rolling back into the busy street.

Vicky carefully got into the car and stopped it immediately. Her quick action helped prevent a potentially disastrous outcome and no one was hurt in the incident.

In recognition of Vicky’s public service, Cedar Falls Mayor Jim Brown, alongside City Administrator, Ron Gaines, and Vicky’s supervisor, City Clerk Jacque Danielsen, presented her with a Challenge Coin. These coins are awarded to invidudals who help make a difference in their community.

Thank you, Vicky, for your kindness and commitment to Cedar Falls!
