Frank Darrah & Family

Mr. Darrah has been a Cedar Falls resident for 30 years. He graduated from Malvern High School in Southwest Iowa. He has a Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Northern Colorado and also holds a School Administrator certification from UNI. Frank's wife Cary also is active in the city on various boards and committees and was the Community Main Street director from 1997 until June of 2007.

Employment Background

Frank taught and was a special education administrator for 35 years; six years in Aurora, Colorado, and 29 years at AEA7 in Cedar Falls. He has been an adjunct instructor at Wartburg College as well as UNI. He also served as Support Services Coordinator at UNI's Price Laboratory School

Commitment to Community

Frank is active in several organizations. He is on the Board of Directors for Northstar Community Services, Learning Disabilities Association of Iowa, and has volunteered as a Big Brother.

Frank is no newcomer to City government. He served 10 years on the City’s Park and Recreation Commission and 12 years on the Planning and Zoning Commission.

He states, “I ran for city council because I share many peoples’ desire to see Cedar Falls continue to grow in a well-planned manner and want to participate in decisions that will help Cedar Falls keep its place as a premier community in the Midwest. I look forward to communicating with residents from all over Cedar Falls as we work together to maintain our quality of life.”
