About the Investigator
Police Operations has had its own crime lab for over forty years. Officer Matt Belz is responsible for the collection, processing, and storage of evidence for cases in Cedar Falls.
Officer Belz is a certified police officer through the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, and has been an officer in Cedar Falls since 2006. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and an Associate’s Degree in Police Science. Officer Belz has completed advanced training in topics relating to crime scene investigation; such as evidence collection, developing and identifying fingerprints, photography, footwear identification, digital forensics, serial number restoration, and firearms.
