Olive Street
Beginning Monday, December 19th, 2022, the City’s contractor, PCI, will start the Olive Street Box Culvert Replacement Project by closing the existing Olive Street Bridge. Crews will work to demolish the structurally deficient bridge and adjacent pedestrian bridge. In order for the contractor to begin, the bridge will be closed along with the pavement on either side of the former bridge. Adjacent driveways on either side of the bridge will be impacted during construction, including a closure of the Urban Flats CF (2019 Olive Street) easterly entrance onto Olive Street. Urban Flats CF will still have access to the alley and southerly entrance onto W. 21st Street.
Ahead of the new box culvert delivery in early spring, crews will be preparing the adjacent channel between College Street and Olive Street for the new box culvert installation. Winter work will include clearing and grubbing of overgrown vegetation and stabilization of the channel slopes with temporary shoring between College Street and Olive Street.
After installation of the box culvert system, crews will switch their attention to the Pettersen Plaza expansion and landscaping on top of the new box culvert system. Construction of the entire project is scheduled to last the entirety of the 2023 construction season and will be finalized around October of 2023.
