All,
The City of Cedar Falls is now wrapping up Phase I of the Downtown Streetscape and Reconstruction Project. With consistent freezing weather, snow, and ice just around the corner, we wanted to pass along an additional reminder to highlight the specific care that will be required for these newly installed clay-fired brick pavers. Above this letter, you will find maintenance guidelines directly from the manufacturer of these bricks.
The most important takeaway is to prevent calcium chloride based salts from contacting these bricks. Other alternatives, including urea, litter, or sodium chloride are presented as effective options.
It is our hope that with everybody’s contribution in the historic downtown area, we can successfully maintain this updated appearance for years to come.
Lastly, we would like to thank you for your patience throughout this construction season and working with us to help deliver what we believe to be an exceptional upgrade to the appearance and functionality of the downtown area.
If you have any questions, please contact Benjamin Claypool 319-243-2704.
Sincerely,
Ben Claypool, PhD, EI
