Adult Studio Spring Classes
Dates: March 18- May 8, 2014 (eight weeks, unless otherwise noted)

Drawing & Design Fundamentals I (ages 18+)
Learn how shadow, light, and color work in a drawing or painting, thereby enhancing your art making. Focus on a portrait, landscape, abstract image, or figure drawing from life. This class is perfect for the beginner or intermediate drawing student.
Dates: Thursdays, March 20 – May 8                      
Time: 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Drawing & Design Fundamentals II (ages 18+)
Learn to enhance your drawing or painting by adding color. This class is designed for the student with interest in advanced drawing skills. (Models may be used in this class.)

Writing Workshop (ages 18+)
Writers come together to compose, share, and discuss one another’s work in a relaxed atmosphere. Students engage in critique and conversation, enhancing their artistic experience and strengthening writing skills.
Dates: Tuesdays, March 18 – May 6

Pottery I: Stoneware & Porcelain (ages 18+)
Since its discovery, clay has been formed into decorative or utilitarian objects. Learn more about this diverse medium through wheel-throwing, hand-building, and glazing.
Dates: Tuesdays, March 18 – May 6
Tuition: $78 ($70.20) $25 lab fee*                             
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Pottery II: Stoneware & Porcelain (ages 18+)
Work with two traditional clay materials to create works of form and function. Further your ceramics skills through wheel-throwing, hand-building, and glazing.

Photography & the Digital Age (ages 18+)
Learn to use your digital camera and digitally manipulate images. Learn camera basics, composition, lighting, software, and more in this class. Students will get the most out of this class if they have a digital SLR (single lens reflex) camera as we will learn about f-stops, shutter speeds, and other settings that are most commonly found on SLR cameras. Software demonstrations: Students who bring a notebook computer will learn about Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements for Mac or Windows. Students that bring a tablet will learn about Photoshop Touch for iOS and Android. Bring your digital camera and your notebook computer or tablet and enjoy the digital era of photography!
Dates: Thursdays, March 20 – April 24 (six sessions)

Watermedia Magic
Experience the magic of watermedia, with watercolor and other water-based media. Traditional watercolor and new materials and techniques are discussed, demonstrated, and explored in this unique class. Materials are provided the first night of class. Beginners as well as seasoned painters will enjoy this class.

Adult Studio Summer Classes Studio classes for adults 18 years of age or older, are designed to provide hands-on experiences and are open to individuals with all levels of skill from novices to experienced artists.
Adult classes include eight sessions, unless otherwise noted.
June session – classes meet two times a week, June 3 – June 26
July session – classes meet two times a week, July 8 – July 31
No class on July 4. Classes resume July 9.

Summertime Pottery (ages 18+)
Create unique and beautiful ceramic forms using the potter’s wheel, slab, and hand-building techniques. Classroom instruction and practice with hand-building techniques and the potter’s wheel help students create well-designed pieces and unique surface treatments.
Session I: Tuesdays & Thursdays, June 2 – 26
Session II: Tuesdays & Thursdays, July 8 – 31
Tuition: $78 ($70.20) + $20 lab fee*                         
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Painter’s Studio (ages 18+)
Students learn new painting techniques, explore color theory, learn to establish unity, and capture light in their paintings. Designed to incorporate one-on-one instruction for both beginning and advanced painters based on individual needs.

Tuition: $52 ($46.80)
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Beginners
Time: 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Intermediate/Advanced
