Special Roadway Corridor Projects
Main Street Corridor
The City of Cedar Falls is conducting a traffic study of the Main Street corridor from W. 6th Street to Seerley Boulevard. The city is asking for public input on potential improvements to this corridor with respect to the future rehabilitation of the roadway.

  • An informational meeting was on Tuesday, September 13th to gather input from the public. The following information was presented at the meeting:

University Avenue Corridor

Highway 58 Corridor
The City of Cedar Falls and the Iowa Department of Transportation is conducting a corridor study for intersection improvements along Highway 58 in southern Cedar Falls. Select the link to view the Technical Memorandum of the IA 58 Over/Under Review at the intersection with Viking Road.

  • A public informational meeting concerning the Iowa 58 and Viking Road interchange was held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Public Works Facility, 220 Technology Parkway from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Select the Public Informational Meeting flier for more information.

  • The first public open house for this project was on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Public Works Facility, 2200 Technology Parkway from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. The following documents were presented at the open house.

W. 1st Street Corridor
This corridor from Franklin Street to Hudson Road is being studied for a future reconstruction project.

The Environmental Assessment (EA) has been completed and the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) is under review by the IDOT and FHWA. The next steps in the project include meeting with the IDOT to review the cost share for the project and initiate the final design. The anticipated schedule of events include final design in the summer of 2016 with construction in 2018.

  • A public hearing for the proposed improvements to W. 1st Street/Iowa 57 from Highland Drive to Franklin Street/Center Street was on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Cedar Falls Community Center, 528 Main Street, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
