How many officers are trained to be in the Bike Patrol Unit?
Currently there are 12 officers that are certified Bike Patrol members.
2.
How often are the Bike Patrol members on their bikes patrolling?
Between the months of April and November unit members are patrolling by bike as much as the calls for service allows. Bike Unit members use a 24-speed Trek Police Mountain Bike equipped with front suspension, fenders, equipment bag, headlight, taillight, and red and blue emergency lights.
4.
Can Bike Patrol members pull over a car while they are on their bikes?
Yes, unit members make numerous vehicle stops yearly.
5.
Does the Bike Patrol put on safety presentations or bike rodeos?
Yes we do. Please contact Lieutenant Marty Beckner at (319) 273-8612 for more information.
