The Rec Center is scheduled to open to the public on May 18, 2020 at Noon under the following conditions in an effort to protect all our patrons and staff we will be open our regular summer hours of operation:
Sunday 1:00-4:00 PM
Monday-Thursday 5:00AM- 9:30PM
Help us stay open for you! It is required that all patrons wear masks at all times in all public areas. Staff will wear masks at all times in all public areas for their protection and for the protection of our patrons. Please keep in mind we MUST have everyone’s help and assistance to stay open and to serve all our patrons.
To maintain physical distancing from other patrons and staff:
The governor is requiring us to only allow a maximum of 50% occupancy. We will start by capping the number of patrons working out at any one time to 40. Once 40 people are in the facility, others will not be allowed in until someone leaves. As a courtesy to others, we ask that your workout not exceed more than 90 minutes.
Only those with Memberships and Punch Cards may enter, NO daily admissions allowed
If a patron is sick with COVID-19, were recently exposed (within 14 days) to someone with COVID-19, or just don’t feel well, they need to stay home and DO NOT come to the Recreation Center
During this phase -
-Locker rooms, Steam rooms, and Sauna will be closed due to construction May 25-August 14
-Patrons must bring their own lock for lockers
-There will be NO fitness classes, towel service or child care offered
-Activity Room will be closed
-Cardio and exercise machines with “Do Not Use” signs are off limits due to Personal Distancing reasons
-Only ceiling fans will be allowed – no additional floor fans will be allowed in any other areas
-Those wanting to shoot baskets must bring in their own ball and no more than two shooters will be allowed per basket. To prevent games, some basket may be retracted.
-Racquetball courts can only be used by a maximum of two patrons at a time
-The track area can have no one walking side by side and need to be separated by 7 feet or 3 steps from the person in front or behind you. Passing other users is OK
-The floor leading to the front desk will be marked every 6 -7 feet in both directions for spacing reasons
-Personal Training sessions and Massages can be scheduled and held once we are open
To help maintain as safe an environment as possible we ask all our patrons use sanitary wipes or spray disinfectant to wipe down all surfaces on all the equipment they use before leaving equipment and/or putting it away, this will eventually include fitness classes.
The locker room “face lift” project is scheduled to start on May 18 and to be finished by August 14. During this time locker rooms and steam rooms will not be available for use. The unisex rest rooms will be available for restrooms and fast changing needs. We sincerely apologize that this work could not have been done sooner but the City is required to prepare plans, specifications, go through a public bidding process and get signed contracts before the job can start. This takes multiple City Council meetings and several months to complete the process.
It is the City’s intent to add a number of months to all memberships due to Covid-19. This number will be determined and publicly announced after we are back to some type of normal operations.
