LEVEE/FLOODWALL SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
Week of December 11th,2017 Update

Due to construction delays south of the Waste Water Reclamation Facility, crews will be starting construction this week of the lower wall segment located in Peter Melendy Park. This construction will replace the existing the lower wall section located north of the levee wall near the Main St. bridge. This phase of construction is anticipated to be completed in March of 2018. Crews will also be finalizing construction around the Waste Water Reclamation Facility. This phase of construction is anticipated to be completed in April of 2018. Both construction segments will continue through the winter, weather pending.

     •  Construction traffic should be anticipated on 1st St., 4th St., State St., and Franklin St.
     •  Trail closures will be in effect from 4th to 9th street and north of the Levee wall in Peter             Mendy Park.
     •  Construction traffic will be crossing trails, cross only at designated crosswalks and watch         for crossing signs.

Week of December 4th,2017 Update

Construction of the Cedar Falls Levee Floodwall System Improvements started on               November 1st. Crews are currently working around the Waste Water Reclamation Facility constructing a new concrete floodwall. This construction will continue through the winter, weather pending, around the facility and progressing towards the south. This phase of construction is anticipated to be completed in April of 2018. .

·   Construction traffic should be anticipated on 4th St., State St., and Franklin St. 

·   Construction traffic will also be crossing the trail, please watch for crossing signs and cross only in designated crosswalks.

·   As crews move towards the south of the Waste Water Reclamation Facility, trail closures will be in effect from 4th to 9th street.

Week of October 30, 2017 Update

Construction is scheduled to begin November 1st.

The contractor will begin work on Segment 1 and 5A.

Segment 1-10-30-17

             Segment 1 – Sanitary Sewer line to the Ice House Museum

                          •       Construction Traffic anticipated on 1st Street

Segment5A-10-30-17

Segment 5A – Construction of new 2 ft floodwall East of the Water Reclamation Facility

             •   Construction traffic will cross trail. Watch for crossing signs.
             •   Construction traffic is anticipated on 4th Street, State Street and Franklin Street
               No street closures anticipated.


PROPOSED LEVEE AND FLOODWALL IMPROVEMENTS
(OCTOBER 2017 – MARCH 2018)

Water Reclamation Facility Area
o Construction of new floodwall.
o Construction anticipated October 2017 through April 2018.
o Construction traffic will cross the trail. Watch for crossing signs.
o Construction traffic is anticipated on 4th St., State St., & Franklin St.
o Construction traffic on Main St. is not anticipated.
o No street or trail closures anticipated.


Ice House Museum Area
o Sanitary Sewer Line
o Construction anticipated in November 2017.
o Construction traffic anticipated on 1st Street.
o Construction traffic on Main St. is not anticipated.
o Closures to the Little Red School House sidewalk and parking lot to the Ice House Museum.


South of Water Reclamation Facility
o Increase levee height two feet.
o Construction on going January 2018 through April 2018
o Construction traffic anticipated on 4th St., State St., and Franklin St.
o Construction traffic on Main St. is not anticipated.
o Trail closure from 4th St. to 9th St.


Western Homes
o Construction of new floodwall and levee expansion.
o Construction on going February 2018 – May 2018.
o Construction traffic anticipated on State St., 9th St. and Irving St.
o Access limitations to parking lot behind Western Homes & Closure of Irving St.
